Back-to-back games against Holmes Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College highlight East Mississippi Community College’s 2020 football schedule, which was released Thursday.
The Lions will visit Holmes on Sept. 24 in Goodman and host the Rangers on Oct. 1 in Scooba in the middle of an eight-game schedule. The slate was shortened from nine games to eight by Mississippi Association of Community Colleges presidents, and the season’s start date was moved back two weeks to Thursday, Sept. 10.
A homecoming game against Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Oct. 24 — EMCC’s only Saturday game of the season — should also be a big test for the Lions.
EMCC’s season opener will be on the road again, as the Lions travel to Decatur to face East Central Community College at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10.
The Lions went 6-3 in the 2019 regular season and lost to eventual national champion Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the first round of the state playoffs.
