LUCEDALE — Blayze Berry pitched a gem as the Heritage Academy baseball team shut out George County 3-0 on Saturday in Lucedale.
The Mississippi State signee struck out 10 batters in 6⅔ scoreless innings as the Patriots improved to 11-1 on the season. He also led the team with two hits and drove in a run.
Banks Hyde and KJ Smith also had RBIs for Heritage Academy.
Heritage Academy 14, Harrison Central 4
D’IBERVILLE — Heritage Academy run-ruled MHSAA Class 6A school Harrison Central 14-4 on Friday at D’Iberville High School.
The Patriots scored eight runs in the fourth inning and earned the win in five innings.
Aaron Downs led Heritage Academy by driving in three runs, while Hyde and Seth Harris each had two RBIs. Downs, Hyde and Cole Ketchum each had two hits.
Hyde struck out two in three innings on the mound.
Pickens Academy 12, Kemper Academy 0
DE KALB — Pickens Academy (Alabama) shut out Kemper Academy 12-0 on Saturday in De Kalb.
Collin Smith pitched a complete-game shutout for the Pirates (2-3), striking out nine and allowing two hits and two walks.
Will Noland went 4 for 5 with an RBI for Pickens Academy, while Hayden Dyer went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in two runs, and Clark Noland walked twice and went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
Drake Lowery went 2 for 2, and Clayton Lee and Lane Goodman each went 2 for 4.
