BOONEVILLE — The Columbus High School baseball team lost 10-4 to East Union at the Northeast Mississippi Community College on Monday in Booneville.
Jamad Horn struck out four hitters in 4⅓ innings on the mound for Columbus.
The Falcons (0-7) also lost 10-0 to Southaven later Monday.
Columbus hosts Sulligent (Alabama) at 6 p.m. March 16.
Jackson Prep 6, New Hope 1
OCEAN SPRINGS — New Hope lost to MAIS powerhouse Jackson Prep 6-1 on Monday at the Spring Break Tournament at St. Martin High School in Ocean Springs.
Zac Butler struck out four in four innings for the Trojans (3-3), and Presley Hall had four strikeouts in two innings.
New Hope will face Terry at West Harrison High School in Gulfport at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Caledonia 2, Calhoun City 1, eight innings
CALEDONIA — Justin Black walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning as Caledonia walked off Calhoun City 2-1 in Monday’s home game.
Black’s free pass reinforced a solid start by Tony Brooks, who struck out nine while allowing three hits over six innings. Each team scored a run in the sixth inning.
Nathan McLemore went 3 for 3 with three doubles for Caledonia, Black finished with two runs batted in, and Thomas Tucker and Will Donald each had a hit.
Gavin Holloman was the winning pitcher for the Confederates (7-3).
Caledonia will host Lamar County (Alabama) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy 8, Starkville 4
GULFPORT — Starkville High School couldn’t handle Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Monday at West Harrison, falling 8-4.
The Yellow Jackets (5-4) fell victim to a four-run third and a three-run fourth by the Patriots.
Koby Livingston had a hit and drove in a run for Starkville.
Riley Dawkins struck out four hitters in two innings on the mound and walked twice at the plate; Banks Perry struck out two in 1⅔ innings.
Starkville will face St. George’s at 5 p.m. Tuesday at D’Iberville High School in Biloxi.
Tuscaloosa Academy (Ala.) 8, Pickens Academy (Ala.) 3
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) lost Monday’s road game to Tuscaloosa Academy (Alabama), 8-3.
The Knights scored three runs in the third and fourth innings to grab a big lead.
Bodhi Parham, Hayden Dyer and Clark Noland each went 2 for 4 for the Pirates (0-2), and Noland and Lane Goodman each drove in a run. Caleb Robbins had a double in his only at-bat.
Collin Smith struck out three in five innings pitched, Parham pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out two.
Pickens Academy hosts Southern Academy at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Carrollton, Alabama.
