LEXINGTON — The Columbus girls outlasted Holmes County Central 48-44 in Friday’s Class 5A second-round playoff game in Lexington.
Aniya Saddler scored 18 points and had seven steals, and her sister Mashanti Saddler had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons will play Lafayette at 4 p.m. Feb. 29 at Itawamba Community College in Fulton.
Simpson Academy boys 54, Heritage Academy 33
FLOWOOD — The Heritage Academy boys lost Friday’s MAIS Class 4A tournament semifinal to Simpson Academy, 54-33, on Friday at Hartfield Academy in Flowood.
The Patriots are eliminated from state title contention but can still qualify for the MAIS overall tournament with a win in Saturday’s third-place game.
Neshoba Central girls 45, New Hope 35
NEW HOPE — The New Hope girls lost Friday’s home Class 5A second-round playoff game 45-35 to Neshoba Central.
The loss eliminates the Trojans from postseason play, ending their season.
Hernando girls 54, Starkville 36
HERNANDO — The Starkville High School girls lost Friday’s Class 5A second-round playoff game 54-36 at Hernando.
The loss eliminates the Yellow Jackets (15-12) from postseason play, ending their season.
Carroll Academy boys 45, Oak Hill Academy 33
CANTON — The Oak Hill Academy boys lost Friday’s MAIS Class 3A tournament semifinal to Carroll Academy, 45-33, on Friday at Canton Academy.
The Raiders are eliminated from state title contention but can still qualify for the MAIS overall tournament with a win in Saturday’s third-place game.
