Anthony Servideo clubbed a solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Ole Miss baseball team a 9-8 win over Alcorn State in 10 innings Wednesday in Oxford.
Servideo sent a pitch over the wall in right center field to give the 15th-ranked Rebels (3-1) the extra-inning win after Alcorn State tied the game in the top of the ninth and threatened to take the lead.
But the Rebels’ Braden Forsyth pitched out of the jam, and Servideo delivered for Ole Miss in the 10th.
Ole Miss fought back after Alcorn State scored four runs in the top of the first inning, tying the game 4-4 by the third inning. The Rebels pulled ahead 7-5 then 8-7, but the Braves had an answer each time.
Ultimately, though, it was Servideo who had the final word.
Ole Miss will host Xavier for a three-game series beginning at 4 p.m. Friday at Swayze Field in Oxford.
