The East Mississippi Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams continue to roll.
Both programs earned road wins over Itawamba Community College on Monday in Fulton to maintain the success they’ve had this season.
The Lions women (20-2, 11-0 MACJC North division) clinched the MACJC North title with a 45-40 win over the Indians. Ja’Mia Hollings had her 11th double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Tye Metcalf had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals, Maddie Riley had six points and eight rebounds, and Aamiya Rush had six points.
It was the 15th straight win for EMCC, which reached the 20-win mark since the Lions’ 2008-09 team went 25-7 and won the NJCAA Region 23 championship.
Jakorie Smith led with 15 points and six rebounds as the EMCC men (16-6, 9-2 MACJC North) pulled out a 58-55 win over the Indians on Monday.
Donte Powers had 10 points and eight assists, Arecko Gipson Jr. had 10 points and four rebounds, and Quamontae Monfort had seven points and six rebounds.
EMCC will host Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday in Scooba.
The Lions will host the MACJC state tournament next week.
