MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Pickens Academy (Alabama) girls basketball team beat Patrician Academy 49-29 on Thursday at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery to reach the AISA Class 2A championship game.
Caroline Lewis had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Pirates (16-5), and Audrey Fondren had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Pickens Academy will play the winner of Monroe Academy and Autauga Academy at noon Saturday in the state championship.
West Lowndes boys 38, Nanih Waiya 37
MCADAMS — The West Lowndes boys beat Nanih Waiya on Thursday in the semifinal round of the MHSAA Class 1A, Region 5 tournament to continue their undefeated season.
Albert Plair was the leading scorer for the Panthers.
West Lowndes will participate in the championship game at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Panthers are guaranteed to host a first-round playoff game.
West Lowndes girls 70, French Camp Academy 42
MCADAMS — The West Lowndes girls beat French Camp Academy 70-42 on Thursday in the semifinal round of the MHSAA Class 1A, Region 5 tournament to continue their undefeated season.
Marvaysha Seals and Tydajasha Hood each scored 21 points for West Lowndes.
The Panthers (21-0) will face Ethel for the tournament title at 7 p.m. Friday.
West Lowndes is guaranteed to host a first-round playoff game.
Caledonia boys 62, Shannon 58
FULTON — The Caledonia boys team beat Shannon 62-58 on Thursday in the semifinal round of the Class 4A, Region 2 tournament at Itawamba Community College in Fulton.
With the win, Caledonia advances to face Pontotoc at 8:30 p.m. Friday for the district title.
Caledonia is guaranteed to host a first-round playoff game Tuesday.
Noxubee County boys 54, Aberdeen 39
HOUSTON — The Noxubee County boys team beat Aberdeen 54-39 on Thursday in the semifinal round of the Class 3A, Region 4 tournament in Houston.
The Tigers will play Houston for the district championship at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Noxubee County is guaranteed to host a first-round playoff game.
Houston girls 56, Noxubee County 49
HOUSTON — The Noxubee County boys team beat Aberdeen 54-39 on Thursday in the semifinal round of the Class 3A, Region 4 tournament in Houston.
The Tigers will play in the consolation game at 4 p.m. Friday.
