Tierah Macon had a hat trick for the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science girls soccer team and Cameron Wright had the same for the boys team in the Blue Waves' sweep of West Point on Tuesday at the Columbus Soccer Complex.

Macon's three goals helped the girls team (2-2-1) to a 6-0 win. Mandy Anderson, Ashley Mangus and Emily Berry also scored.

"Tonight we built on lessons learned in our earlier matches," head coach Chuck Yarborough said. "Our communication was solid, and I'm pleased with our increasing pace in possession. It was also great to see a senior leader like Tierah earn her first hat trick."

On the boys side, Wright's three tallies spurred a 6-1 win over the Green Wave. Trevor Allen, Tejus Kotikalapudi and Collin Jeck also scored, and Allen had three assists for MSMS (1-3).

"I was happy overall with the way we finished," head coach Tim Wood said. "We definitely played with more intensity and demonstrated our values much better in the second half. This match gives us good momentum going into our district match Thursday."

The Blue Waves face district foe Philadelphia on Thursday at the Columbus Soccer Complex.
