Starkville boys ranked No. 1 in preseason MHSAA basketball coaches poll

The Starkville High School boys basketball team was ranked No. 1 in the state and in Class 6A in the Impact Sports preseason coaches poll, released Tuesday.

 

Callaway and Meridian rounded out the top three overall, with Meridian right behind Starkville in Class 6A. Oxford, Tupelo and Gulfport rounded out the Class 6A rankings.

 

The Starkville girls team cracked the top five in the Class 6A girls rankings as well, slotting in fourth. Olive Branch was picked first, and Pearl was picked second.

 

 

Columbus High School's girls team was ranked fifth in Class 5A. Brookhaven was ranked No. 1, and West Jones was ranked No. 2.

 

The West Lowndes boys team made the top five in Class 1A, ranked fifth. Ingomar was ranked first, and Baldwyn was ranked second.

 

Impact Sports will continue publication of its coaches poll, which ranks the top five boys and girls teams in public and private classifications throughout the year.
