Starkville boys finish sixth in MHSAA Class 6A cross country meet; girls finish 18th

Christian Leach led the Starkville High School boys cross country team with a third-place finish as the Yellow Jackets placed sixth on Wednesday in the MHSAA Class 6A state championship meet at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.

 

Leach's time of 16 minutes, 47.20 seconds was tops on the team, which finished with a total of 1 hour, 31 minutes, 54.90 seconds.

 

Rhett Schimpf placed 34th at 18:26.10, and Chris Bell was 45th at 18:54.80.

 

 

Pearl won the boys meet with a team time of 1:26:21.60.

 

On the girls side, Caroline Nobles' time of 22:48.99 earned her a 38th-place finish, highest on the team.

 

Starkville finished 18th with a team time of 2:10:19.74.

 

Charley Schimpf was 76th with a time of 24:35.63, and Serenity Long was 112th at 27:23.65.

 

Hernando won the girls event with a team time of 1:45:24.62.
