Mississippi State volleyball sweeps its way through Southern Miss Classic

HATTIESBURG -- Mississippi State volleyball won all three of its matches over the weekend at the Southern Miss Volleyball Classic in Hattiesburg to improve to 6-0 on the season. 

 

The Bulldogs beat New Orleans 18-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-19 on Friday behind 17 kills from Callie Minshew and 14 from Gabby Waden. 

 

Saturday morning's match against Arkansas State was a little closer, with the Bulldogs winning in five sets: 25-22, 15-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13. Waden led the team with 18 kills. 

 

MSU swept host Southern Miss 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 Saturday night to close out the tournament. 

 

The Bulldogs will participate in the Gamecock Classic hosted by Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Alabama. They'll play Stetson at 10 a.m. Friday, Sam Houston State at 4:30 p.m. Friday, and the host Gamecocks at 7 p.m. Saturday.
