FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Mississippi State freshman golfer Ford Clegg did it again.
Clegg earned a top-15 finish for the fifth time this season at the Mason Rudolph Championships on Sunday.
He concluded the weekend tied for 13th after carding a 2-under 69 in the final round for an overall score of 4-under 209.
The result also gives Clegg six straight top-20 finishes.
“Ford played another huge round for us today when we needed it,” MSU coach Dusty Smith said.
As a team, the Bulldogs finished 12th out of 17. Host Vanderbilt won the tournament with a team total of 29-under, while Western Kentucky’s Billy Tom Sargent was the top individual finisher at 12-under.
WOMEN’S TENNIS: The MSU women’s tennis team was edged out by No. 26 Kentucky 4-2 Sunday in Lexington.
Senior Anastasia Rentouli led the charge for the Bulldogs, winning her fifth straight match with a 6-2 6-4 victory over redshirt sophomore Lesedi Jacobs at No. 2 singles. Rentouli now boasts a 22-5 singles record and is 13-1 in dual match play.
Sophomore Magda Adaloglou earned the only other MSU singles victory.
WOMEN’S GOLF: The MSU women’s golf team will open competition at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Georgia, on Monday.
Also in the field are No. 29 North Carolina, No. 37 Kennesaw State and No. 41 Old Dominion.
“We have put in some hard work as this regular season winds down,” head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “The weather may not cooperate, but we are tough and have prepared for this with the excessive rain of January-March this year.”
Seniors Kendall Wisenbaker and Athena Yang will both be in this week’s lineup. It is Yang’s first appearance this spring.
