STARKVILLE — Following an appearance in the Round of 16 for the NCAA men’s tennis team championships in May, Mississippi State earned a number of postseason accolades Tuesday.
Two coaches and two players received honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the southern region of the US.
Head coach Matt Roberts was named Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year, leading the Bulldogs to a 21-8 record overall and a 17-1 record in Starkville. It was his fourth Coach of the Year recognition and first since 2019.
Assistant coach Jake Jacoby was named Assistant Coach of the Year as well.
On the court, graduate student Ewen Lumsden was named ITA Senior Player of the Year, going 23-10 in singles play overall and 9-3 in Southeastern Conference play.
He’s the fourth Bulldog overall, and second consecutive, to receive the award, following Florian Broska in 2022.
Graduate student Gregor Ramskogler was named ITA Most Improved Senior after a historic year, becoming the all-time leader in doubles dual-match victories with 64. He went 17-12 in singles play and 16-10 in doubles play.
Ramskogler is the first Bulldog to win the Most Improved Senior honor.
