MABEN — New Hope bounced back from Friday’s 4-3 loss to Caledonia with a 15-9, eight-inning win over East Webster on Saturday.

The Trojans scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game, then roared past the Wolverines in Maben.

Colin Perrigin homered for New Hope, Drew Hudgins had three hits, and the Trojans drew 14 walks.

Sam Malone was clutch out of the bullpen late in the game. Grant Banks drew the start, but Malone and Landon Moore combined for 5 1/3 innings while allowing just three hits.

New Hope pitching struck out 14 East Webster hitters.

The Trojans will play Tuesday at Starkville.

Heritage Academy 13, Tishomingo County 4

IUKA — Heritage Academy went on the road Saturday to beat Tishomingo County, 13-4.

Jack Ketchum allowed just three hits for the Bulldogs while hitting his fourth home run of the season, a two-run blast in the first inning.
Carson Hollis and Collin Adair had multihit games for the Patriots. Spencer Singley pitched three scoreless innings, and Cooper Long got his first career win.

Heritage Academy will host Lamar School on Monday.

Heritage Academy 17, Nettleton 5

Heritage Academy opened the weekend with a 17-5, run-rule rout of Nettleton.

Tre’veon Rainey reached base four times for the Patriots, including a home run. Ketchum also homered for Heritage Academy.

Charlie Fowler had two hits and drove in three runs with a double, while Dalton Stripling, Nash McCrary and Adair all had hits and RBIs.

Heritage Academy jumped out to an 11-1 lead after the first inning.

Caledonia 10, Choctaw County 7

CALEDONIA — Caledonia scored in five of its six innings at the plate in a 10-7 win over Choctaw County at home Saturday.

Eight different Cavaliers drove in runs, led by starting pitcher Nick Wade, who went 3 for 4 at the dish.

Ashton Smith pitched three hitless innings in relief, allowing just one run and earning the victory. Shep Donald had an RBI triple in his lone at-bat.

Caledonia will host West Point on Tuesday.

West Point 8, Hamilton 5

WEST POINT — Kamden Tyler threw a complete game for West Point in Saturday’s 8-5 home win over Hamilton.

Tyler allowed just one earned run, striking out six in his seven innings of work.

Bradley Cohen went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Ahmari Cox was 2 for 3 with four stolen bases, and Evan Palmer also went 2 for 3 for the Green Wave.

West Point will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Caledonia.

Prep track and field

Starkville boys compete at Southern Miss HS Invitational

HATTIESBURG — Starkville High School was one of 44 teams from Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana to compete in the Southern Miss High School Invitational on Friday in Hattiesburg.

The Jackets’ 4×100-meter relay team of Sanchez Brooks, Braylon Burnside, Jejuan Davis and Evan George finished third. Giles Jones was fourth in the boys 3,200 meters, and Grady Stewart was fourth in the 400.

Starkville will take part in the Golden Triangle Showdown on Tuesday in Columbus.
