West Lowndes boys basketball held tough in a close 62-57 win over Kemper County on Tuesday night.
Cameron Ellis led the Panthers (8-6) in scoring with 14 points, one of four West Lowndes players to finish in double-figures in scoring. Cameron Smith followed close behind, finishing with 12 points as well as five rebounds and six assists.
Elijah Johnson posted a double-double for the Panthers, with 11 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and four assists and Jarmarvion Seals finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
West Lowndes will travel to play New Hope in its next game at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3.

SOUTHAVEN — Heritage Academy girls basketball fell to Brookhaven Academy, 54-21, in Day 2 of the Lamar School Christmas Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
Lucy Sharp led the Patriots (7-9) in scoring with 11 points in the loss.
Heritage Academy will play Columbus Christian Academy in its next game on Dec. 28.

SOUTHAVEN — Heritage Academy boys basketball defeated Southern Academy, 56-37, in Day 2 of the Lamar School Christmas Tournament on Tuesday.
Jack Ketchum led the Patriots (6-5, 2-1 in district) with 26 points in the victory, Heritage’s second in as many days.
Heritage Academy will play Columbus Christian Academy in its next game on Dec. 28.

New Hope girls soccer defeated Columbus in a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday night.
The Trojans (9-1-1) saw Chelsea Teague score a team-leading four goals in the victory. Anna Claire Nabors, Deasia Cockrell and Allie Sanford also scored for New Hope.
New Hope will travel to play New Albany in its next match at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 3 while Columbus (5-5) will host Winona in its next match at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 5.
