Mississippi State wide receiver Rara Thomas announced he will enter the NCAA transfer portal Friday on social media.
Thomas was the best of Mississippi State’s receivers in 2022, building on a breakout freshman season.
Thomas caught 44 passes for a team-leading 626 yards and caught seven touchdown passes, second on the team.
“Thank you to the entire Mississippi State coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play on this level,” Thomas wrote Friday. “I am forever grateful to each of you for welcoming me into the community and allowing me to call this place my home over the past 2 years.
“With that being said, after a lot of prayer and self-reflection, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility.”
The Eufaula, Alabama, native was a three-star recruit in the class of 2021.
His departure leaves Lideatrick Griffin, Jaden Walley and Rufus Harvey as the Bulldogs’ top returning receivers in 2023.
