STEENS — Columbus Christian Academy varsity basketball went 1-1 against Winston Academy on Thursday night.
The Columbus Christian girls started things off, losing a tough one against the Patriots, 66-28. Satavia Watkins led the Rams (4-3) in scoring with eight points in the loss.
The CCA boys continued their hot start with a 58-41 win, led by Garrett Weathers’ 17-point performance. Joe Edwards and Drake Shaw also finished in double figures in scoring for the Rams (5-1) with 15 points and 11 points, respectively.
Columbus Christian Academy will travel to play Oak Hill Academy in its next game beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

Columbus 7, Winona 0
WINONA — Columbus girls soccer defeated Winona, 7-0, on Thursday night.
Kylee Akijobi led the Falcons (4-2) with 4 goals in the win. Johnasia O’Neal, Mikayla Dennis, and Madison Dooley each scored a goal as well for Columbus.
Columbus will travel to play Neshoba Central in its next game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbus 6, Winona 4
WINONA — Columbus boys soccer won its first match of the season against Winona, 6-4, on Thursday evening.
Destin Poindexter led the Falcons (1-5) in scoring with a hat trick, one of two players with multi-goal games. Antonio Johnson scored two goals for Columbus, and Jayden Williams added a goal as well in a high-scoring, 10-goal affair.
Columbus will travel to play Magnolia Heights in its next game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
