SALTILLO — The Columbus High School boys basketball team picked up a win Monday at the Saltillo Thanksgiving Shootout, while the girls suffered a tough loss.
The Falcons boys beat Corinth 49-34. Jeremiah Aaron had 14 points for Columbus (3-3), and Jace O’Neal had 11.
On the girls’ side, Columbus fell 50-44 to Southaven in overtime.
MaKhya Weatherspoon had 12 points, and Christina Fulton had 11.
Columbus will play at Okolona on Nov. 29.

Lewisburg 43, Starkville Academy 25, Oxford Invitational
OXFORD — The Starkville Academy girls suffered a 43-25 loss to Lewisburg in the Charger Challenge on Monday at Oxford High School.
Calliope Koiva led the Volunteers with seven points.
SA’s next game is at 5 p.m. Tuesday against host Oxford.

New Hope 66, Brookwood (Ala.) 30
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The New Hope High School boys beat Brookwood (Alabama) 66-30 at the Tuscaloosa Central (Alabama) Turkey Shootout on Monday.
The Trojans (3-1) had a balanced scoring effort led by Issac Grady and Makye Butler with 13 points. Terrell Warren and Lonnie Shinn had 11, Matthew Stennis scored 10, and T.J. Wilson had nine.
The Trojans will face Dothan (Alabama) at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the second day of the three-day tournament.
Lewisburg 62, Starkville Academy 52, Charger Challenge
OXFORD — The Starkville Academy boys lost a tight lead against Lewisburg on Monday in the Charger Challenge, falling 62-52.
The Vols were up 15-13 at the end of the first quarter but trailed by three at halftime.
Rett Keenum had 22 points to lead the Volunteers.
SA’s next game is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against host Oxford.
