BENTON — After a tough season-opening loss to East Rankin Academy, Oak Hill Academy football got in the win column, defeating Benton Academy, 37-0.
Oak Hill (1-1) dominated from the start, snapping a three-game losing streak against Benton, defeating them for the first time since 2003.
The Raiders will open up their home schedule against Winona Christian at 7 p.m. Friday, a team Oak Hill defeated, 26-23, in 2021.
Jackson Prep 55, Heritage Academy 7
FLOWOOD — Heritage Academy fell back to the .500 mark after a 55-7 loss on the road against Jackson Prep on Friday.
The Patriots (1-1) were in a 14-0 hole after the first quarter, and Jackson Prep continued to pile on the points, putting up 27 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 41-7 lead at halftime.
Heritage will return home to play East Union at 7 p.m. Friday.
Starkville Academy 35, Trinity Collegiate (S.C.) 20
CARROLLTON, Ga. — Starkville Academy beat Trinity Collegiate School (South Carolina) 35-20 on Saturday in Carrollton, Georgia.
The Volunteers (2-1) took a 21-6 lead into halftime and matched the Titans with two touchdowns in the second half.
Charlie Nicholas had four rushing touchdowns for the Vols, and Briggs Bennett threw a touchdown pass to Wyatt Buice in the first half.
Starkville Academy will play Friday at Leake Academy.
Biggersville 40, West Lowndes 14
BIGGERSVILLE — West Lowndes football lost its season opener on the road against Biggersville, 40-14, on Friday.
The Panthers (0-1) have now lost five straight games against the Lions, a streak that now dates back to 2018.
After the season-opening loss, West Lowndes travels to play Okolona at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Noxubee County 51, Philadelphia 15
PHILADELPHIA — Noxubee County got its 2022 season off to a red-hot start, defeating Philadelphia in its season opener, 51-15, on Friday night.
The Tigers (1-0) commanded the first half, leading 32-7 into the break. They continued to command in the second half, outscoring Philadelphia, 19-8.
Kamario Taylor threw six touchdown passes for Noxubee County.
Noxubee County will return home, hosting Amanda Elzy in its home opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Columbus Christian Academy 19, Marvell Academy (Ark.) 16
MARVELL, Ark. — Columbus Christian football defeated Marvell Academy (Ala.) on Friday, 19-16.
The Rams (1-1) scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, taking a 13-0 lead into halftime. While Marvell came back in the fourth quarter, scoring twice, including two successful two-point conversions, a final touchdown from Columbus Christian secured the three-point victory.
Drake Shaw scored touchdowns of 6 and 45 yards for the Rams. He finished with 79 rushing yards and went 5 of 12 passing for 83 yards. Jonah Harrison scored CCA’s other touchdown.
Harrison led the Rams with 7 1/2 tackles, and Beau Kemp had six.
Columbus Christian will return home, hosting Calhoun Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Humphreys Academy 44, Hebron Christian 6
BELZONI — Hebron Christian lost its first road game of the season to Humphreys Academy on Friday night, 44-6.
The Eagles (0-2) struggled out of the gates and failed to establish anything against the Rebels. Hebron Christian has now been outscored 110-22 this season.
The Eagles will travel to play West Memphis Christian (Ark.) at 7 p.m. Friday.
Unity Christian Academy 12, Victory Christian Academy 0
Victory Christian football lost its season opener to Unity Christian, 12-0, on Friday night.
The Eagles (0-1) and Soldiers were deadlocked in a scoreless game through nearly three quarters, but a touchdown late in the third quarter and one in the middle of the fourth quarter sealed the victory for Unity Christian.
It will be two weeks before Victory Christian’s next game as they travel to play Russell Christian Academy at 7 p.m. Sept. 9.
Wilcox Academy (Ala.) 27, Pickens Academy (Ala.) 20
CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Ala.) lost its season opener at home to Wilcox Academy (Ala.), 27-20, on Friday.
After trailing 14-0 after the first quarter, the Pirates (0-1) scored two touchdowns to cut the halftime lead to 21-14.
Pickens and Wilcox traded a touchdown each in the third and fourth quarter, but the clock ran out on a late comeback.
The Pirates will travel to Greensboro, Ala., to play Southern Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Center Point (Ala.) 48, Aliceville (Ala.) 18
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Aliceville (Ala.) dropped its first away game of the season, a 48-18 loss against Center Point (Ala.) on Friday.
While the Yellow Jackets (1-1) tried to keep pace early on, the Eagles were too explosive on the offensive side of the ball.
Ty’Jarian Williams went 15 for 28 passing with 195 yards for Aliceville. Jaboree Jones rushed for 85 yards on 11 carries, and KeAnthony Wilder had 137 receiving yards on eight catches.
Aliceville will host Tuscaloosa Academy in its next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
