PELAHATCHIE — The Oak Hill Academy football team dropped its season opener in a close loss on the road against East Rankin Academy on Friday night, 28-23.
The Raiders (0-1) trailed 15-10 at the half, getting as close as 21-17 at the end of the third quarter after East Rankin scored a touchdown but missing the ensuing PAT.
Oak Hill travels to play Benton Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Tunica Academy 66, Hebron Christian 16
PHEBA — Hebron Christian lost its season opener at home to Tunica Academy, 66-16, on Friday.
The Eagles (0-1) struggled to generate offense, falling into an early hole they were unable to come out of.
Hebron travels to Belzoni to play Humphreys Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Aliceville 55, Pickens County 12
ALICEVILLE, Ala. — Aliceville (Alabama) won its season opener at home against Pickens County, 55-12, on Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 13-0 lead after the first quarter, further extending it to 41-6 at the half after outscoring Pickens County, 28-6, in the second.
Aliceville QB Ty’Jarian Williams threw for three touchdowns in the win, going 8 for 15 for 156 yards in the air and running for 23 yards. Jaboree Jones and Jalen Fells each ran for a touchdown, combining for 146 rushing yards.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Birmingham to play Center Point at 7 p.m. Friday.
