Richie Wright and JR Wright grabbed first place and Michael Nabors won the prize for the biggest fish Saturday at the first Columbus Christian Academy BASS Tournament at Columbus Lake Landing in Columbus.
Wright and Wright totaled 15.06 pounds to finish a full pound ahead of David Bartimus and Jeffery Davis, who totaled 14.03 pounds. Eddie Armstrong and Brooks Armstrong finished in third place with their total of 12.98 pounds.
Nabors’ biggest fish weighed in at 5.76 pounds and was worth a prize of $100. First place in the tournament paid $1,000, with $500 for second place and $250 for third.
CCA Athletic Director and boys and girls basketball coach Billy Thomas was pleased with the turnout for what is expected to be an annual event, and expressed “big thanks to Performance Marine and the Dupier family.”
CSO soccer registration opens
Columbus Soccer Organization announced that registration for the upcoming season opens Monday, June 20.
Registration fees are based on birth years, with those born 2015-2019 paying $35 and those born 2014 or earlier paying $55.

Adult softball meeting Tuesday
There will be a meeting for Lowndes Recreation Adult Church Softball coaches at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Community Center.
The team entry fee is $375 and must be paid by July 8. Leagues will begin play on July 19, and all games will be played at Lake Lowndes State Park.
