Junior Samuel Malone walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the New Hope High School baseball team to a 3-2 victory over Caledonia on Thursday night in New Hope.
Caledonia had scored twice in the top of the inning to tie the game, with one run coming on a bases-loaded walk and the other on a sacrifice fly by P. harris.
New Hope scored once in the second on an RBI single by Hayden Dodson and once in the fourth on an RBI by Hunter Carr. Each team had only three hits in the game.
Senior Dawson Lofton allowed one run on one hit over six innings for the Trojans, while Josh Pitts pitched into the sixth inning for the Cavaliers, striking out nine while allowing three hits and one earned run.
Winona Christian 10, Oak Hill 9: John Ross Craven struck out 12 batters over six innings, but the Stars rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Raiders.
Oak Hill scored four runs in the top of the fourth, including three on a bases-loaded error in the outfield. Colin Boyd went 2 for 4 and scored three runs for the Raiders, while Darrell Edwards also had two hits.
