Faith Yeates scored 15 points, and Morgan Whitten totaled 13 on Tuesday night as the Columbus Christian Academy girls basketball team defated West Memphis Christian 52-30 in an MAIS Class 2A District 1 game in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Whitten got the Rams off to a great start with 11 first-quarter points, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. Yeates paced the Rams during the second half, scoring 8 of her points during the third quarter.
Oak Hill 53, Rossville Christian 46: Morgan Dabbs scored 16 points as the Raiders won an MAIS Class 4A District 1 game.
Dovie Suggs added 10 points for Oak Hill, while Harley Vaughn scored all 6 of her points during the third quarter when the Raiders held an 18-10 advantage on the scoreboard to take a 42-34 lead into the fourth.
Boys basketball
West Memphis Christian 77, Columbus Christian 65: Joe Edwards scored 25 points, including a 6-of-8 night from the free throw line, but the Rams fell to the Black Knights in West Memphis, Arkansas, in an MAIS Class 2A District 1 game.
Jackson Howard and Drake Shaw scored 10 points apiece for CCA.
Soccer
The Caledonia boys soccer team defeated West Lauderdale 3-2 on Tuesday in Caledonia in the first round of the Class 4A tournament. The win sends them into Saturday’s second round against Richland, a 5-1 winner over New Albany in its opening tournament match.
In the girls tournament, the Cavaliers fell 2-0 to Choctaw Central.
In the boys Class 6A tournament, Starkville’s season came to an abrupt end with a 1-0 home loss to Hernando.
Region 3 champion St. Andrew’s Episcopal advanced with an emphatic 7-0 win over Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in the Class I tournament. The Blue Waves ended their season at 9-3.
