Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers is the Bulldogs’ nominee for the 26th annual C Spire Conerly Trophy, which will be presented Nov. 30 to the best college football player in the Magnolia State.
Rogers is one of 10 players from colleges and universities across Mississippi who earned their schools’ nominations, including Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral. The trophy will be awarded at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Country Club of Jackson.
Rogers was named the Southeastern Conference player of the week Monday after finishing 44 of 55 passing for 415 yards, six touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Bulldogs’ 43-34 win Saturday at No. 17 Auburn.
He also won the Walter Camp national FBS offensive player of the week award for the standout performance.
The sophomore from Brandon ranks second in the country in passing yards and has thrown 29 touchdown passes this season.
