Teams from Columbus United Soccer Club brought home three championships from the Battle for the Square soccer tournament in Oxford.
The Columbus United U12 girls team defeated TFC Caledonia 7-1 and TFC Amory 2-0 on the first day of the tournament. A 1-1 draw against Northeast Louisiana Soccer Club of Monroe, Louisiana, in the final match secured the championship for the team. The team is coached by McGee Ledbetter and Gregg Twietmeyer.
The United U12 boys notched convincing victories over TFC Corinth (9-0) and TFC Amory (12-1). In the final match, the team took home the gold with a tight 2-1 win over Oxford FC. The U12 boys are coached by Jim Hicks and Jamie Baucom.
The United U14 boys team coached by Dave Albertson and Will Starks won a championship in impressive style with three straight shutouts. The team defeated TFC Corinth 7-0 and Oxford FC 2-0 on the first day of the tournament. On the final day they met Tupelo FC and recorded a 1-0 victory.
