VICKSBURG — The Heritage Academy boys tennis team brought home hardware Thursday in Vicksburg by capturing the MAIS Class 4A state championship.
Owen Riley won state at No. 1 singles, while Blake Ward won the No. 2 singles crown. The tandem of Drew Knittig and Joshua Tedford won the No. 1 boys doubles title. Graham Buxton and Brayden Oswalt were finalists in the No. 2 boys’ doubles event and Sarah Cutis was a finalist in the mixed doubles bracket.
Heritage finished the regular season undefeated with the boys team also winning District and North titles.
Oak Hill girls golf takes runner-up finish at MAIS girls state tournament
The Oak Hill girls golf team finished in second place at the MAIS state tournament at the Country Club of Jackson Friday. Oak Hill finished undefeated in the regular season.
The team consisted of Natalie Blanton, Morgan Dabbs, Eliza Yelverton and Ana Collins Coker.

Magnolia Heights 14, Starkville Academy 3 (Friday)
Starkville Academy’s season came to an end as Magnolia Heights completed a two-game sweep Friday in Starkville, taking down the Volunteers 14-3 after winning Game 1 1-0 Wednesday.
Magnolia Heights put the game away early, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning to put the Vols in an early hole. Starkville Academy responded with two runs in the bottom frame, but allowed four more to cross the plate in the top of the third. Randall Futral led the Volunteers with two hits, but the Volunteers only combined for five hits as a team.
Lafayette 4, New Hope 0 (Game 3 Saturday)
New Hope 10, Lafayette 9 (Game 2 Friday)
LAFAYETTE — The New Hope baseball team’s season came to an end Saturday, as the Trojans were unable to score off Lafayette pitcher Wilson Varner and fell 4-0 in a winner-take-all Game 3 Saturday in Lafayette.
After faltering in Game 1, New Hope forced a Game 3 Friday after Richard Guy hit a two-run RBI walk-off double Friday night to propel the Trojans to a 10-9 victory at home over Lafayette in Game 2.
Corinth 6, Caledonia 5 (Friday)
CALEDONIA — The Caledonia baseball season came to an end Friday night, as Corinth secured a two-game sweep with a 6-5 victory.
Tied at four in the ninth inning, Corinth’s Cole Clark hit the go-ahead two-run homer to seal the victory. Caledonia scored a run in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
