OCEAN SPRINGS — Micah McGee drove in three runs as the Starkville Academy baseball team beat St. Martin 9-6 on Wednesday at the Battle at the Beach tournament in Ocean Springs.
The Volunteers (10-4) scored six runs in the first inning as they won their third game in two days.
John Paul Buckner and Porter Skelton each drove in two runs. Skelton had two hits, including a home run, and Ayden Alsobrooks had two hits.
Alsobrooks struck out seven in six innings on the mound. Colby Allen had three strikeouts in a scoreless frame.
Starkville Academy will face Resurrection Catholic at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Biloxi High School.

Earlier Wednesday, the Vols took down Hernando 11-1 on the run rule in four innings.
Starkville Academy scored four runs in the first inning and added six in the second
Alsobrooks had two doubles and drove in five runs. Drew Williams pitched a complete game to earn the victory.
Starkville Academy 5, Ocean Springs 3, Tuesday
Buckner struck out nine in a complete game as the Vols beat Ocean Springs 5-3 on Tuesday night at Ocean Springs High School.
The Vols broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the sixth inning.
Colby Allen led Starkville Academy with two hits, and Randall Futral drove in two runs.
