They did it in different ways and in different places, but the East Mississippi Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams both found a way to win Thursday against Mississippi Delta Community College.
The Lions men fought back for a 76-72 road win in Moorhead after trailing 42-28 at the half, improving their record to 4-3 on the season.
The women’s team, meanwhile, blew out the Trojans from the jump on Thursday in Scooba. Tamara Alexander had a career-high 15 points for EMCC (3-1), while Jenessa Souza had 13 points and six assists and West Point product Ja’Mia Hollings had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Kyunna Thomas had eight points and 13 rebounds, DenAsia Mitchell had eight points and seven assists, and Amaria Strong had seven points and 11 rebounds.
The EMCC women will host Northwest Mississippi Community College at 6 p.m. Monday at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum, while the men’s team will play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Meridian Community College.
