SALTILLO — New Hope High School junior Trey Parnell had three goals in the first half as the Trojans beat the Tigers 3-2 in Saturday’s MHSAA Class 5A second-round playoff game
Saltillo got two goals back with roughly 15 minutes left in the match, but the Trojans held on for the win.
New Hope will face Center Hill in the north half state championship match Tuesday.
Lafayette girls 5, New Hope 0
OXFORD — The New Hope girls saw their strong season end Tuesday at Lafayette in their 5A second-round game.
Julia Perkins and Hudson Lindsay had two goals apiece for the Commodores, and Lillie Grace McCutchen added another.
New Hope (12-4) went undefeated in district play and made the playoffs, neither of which the Trojans had accomplished in the past six years.
