Neither softball game between the Mississippi University for Women and William Carey University on Wednesday in Columbus ended in the standard seven innings, but both ended up as losses for the Owls.
MUW (9-7) lost the first game 8-0 in five innings as William Carey scored four runs in the fifth inning and won via the run rule. In Game 2, the Crusaders scored five runs in the sixth and seventh to tie the game 6-6 and force extra innings. William Carey scored three runs in the top of the eighth to earn the win.
Austyn Holden had The W’s only two runs batted in of the day.
MUW hosts Millsaps College for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday.
