CLEVELAND — The Columbus boys saw their season end Saturday with a 72-54 loss at Cleveland Central.
Jaquarius Williams had 17 points for the Falcons, and Blake Burnett had 13.
Columbus’ season ended with a record of 17-11.
Heritage Academy boys 61, Bayou Academy 31
FLOWOOD — The Heritage Academy boys routed Bayou Academy 61-31 on Saturday in the MAIS Class 4A tournament third-place game.
The win qualified the Patriots for the MAIS overall tournament next week at Mississippi College.
Starkville boys 61, Clinton 60
STARKVILLE — Zeke Cook hit the winning layup with 2.5 seconds to go as the Starkville High School boys team came back to beat Clinton in Saturday’s Class 6A second-round game.
Cook led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points. Eric Green had 12, Forte Prater had 11, and Jamarvious Phillips had 10.
Starkville will play Olive Branch in the state quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mississippi Valley State.
West Lowndes boys 56, West Bolivar 41
The West Lowndes boys team beat West Bolivar 56-41 in the second round Saturday in Columbus to advance to the Class 1A quarterfinals.
Albert Plair scored 18 points for the Panthers, and Darrell Brooks had 11. Decamby Willis and Jherquaveus Sanders each scored eight.
West Lowndes faces West Tallahatchie at 6 p.m. Thursday at Pearl River Community College.
Noxubee County boys 56, Booneville 53
BOONEVILLE — The Noxubee County boys team beat Booneville 56-53 on Saturday in Booneville to advance to the Class 3A quarterfinals.
Noxubee County will face Holly Springs at 7 p.m. Friday at Itawamba Community College in Fulton.
Oak Hill Academy boys 59, Marshall Academy 44
CANTON — The Oak Hill Academy boys team beat Marshall Academy 59-44 in the third-place game of the MAIS Class 3A tournament Saturday at Canton Academy.
With the win, the Raiders qualified for next week’s overall tournament at Mississippi College.
