Lowndes County recreation manager Roger Short received the 25 Year Service Award from USA Softball in November at the USA Softball National Council Meeting in Reno, Nevada.
Short, who has served as a national representative for many national softball tournaments throughout the U.S., stepped down last year from his position as the Regional Director of the Southwest Region and the current South Region for 12 years.
He served as chairman of the National Player Representative Committee and as co-chairman of the National Membership Committee.
Short began his tenure in 1994 by being appointed as Mississippi Deputy State Commissioner by USA Softball of Mississippi State Commissioner E.T. Colvin. He is one of four voting members representing Mississippi on the USA Softball National Council.
