The Columbus Christian Academy boys basketball team won Friday’s season opener against Central Holmes Christian in Steens.
Jonathan Peal had 25 points for the Rams to lead all scorers. Lawson Studdard scored 16, and Will Teague scored 12.
For the Trojans, Lawrence Wiley scored 24 points, and CJ Head had 17.
On the girls side, the Rams lost 54-33 to Central Holmes. CCA senior Kylie Emerson scored 23 points.
The Rams’ next game is Monday, Dec. 2 at Calhoun Academy.
Columbus boys 72, Bruce 21
OKOLONA — Gabe Williams had 18 points to lead the Columbus High School boys team to a 72-21 win over Bruce in the Bobby Ford Shootout on Saturday in Okolona.
Antwan Brandy added 10 points for the Falcons (3-2). Columbus will face Southwind (Tenn.) on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Ridgeway Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.
Calhoun City girls 67, Noxubee County 33
OKOLONA — The Noxubee County girls team lost its game at the Bobby Ford Classic to Calhoun City, 67-33.
Kirsten Barnett scored nine points for the Tigers. Jakeia Walker, Aadijah Williams, Carenciuna Owens and Zacaree Rupert each scored five.
The Tigers’ next game is Monday at New Hope.
