East Mississippi Community College is up three spots in the new National Junior College Athletic Association football poll, released Monday.
The Lions (5-3) jumped three spots to No. 14 from No. 17 in the overall rankings after Thursday’s blowout win at Coahoma. They are the second-highest three-loss team in the rankings, behind only Iowa Western (5-3).
Four Mississippi schools — No. 1 Mississippi Gulf Coast (8-0), No. 2 Northwest Mississippi (7-1), No. 6 Hinds (7-1) and No. 9 Jones (6-2) — made the top 10 this week.
EMCC’s final regular-season game is at 2 p.m. Saturday against Northeast Mississippi (3-5) in Scooba, when the Lions will celebrate homecoming.
