The Mississippi University for Women women’s soccer team shut out LaGrange 2-0 on the road Tuesday in LaGrange, Georgia.
Sarah Havens scored for The W in the 15th minute, and Chelsey Walker scored in the 80th minute. Goalkeeper Sarah Gilliland recorded her third shutout of the season for the Owls (6-4-0). Their next match is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.
The W men’s soccer team, however, didn’t fare as well as the women’s team did Tuesday.
The Owls (2-6-2) couldn’t pull off a late rally to beat Birmingham-Southern and fell 2-1. Kyle Rodriguez scored for the Owls in the 65th minute, but The W couldn’t overcome the two-goal deficit.
The Owls’ next match is at noon Saturday at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.
