SUMMIT — Sophomore Chris Ingram rushed for a career-high 102 yards and four touchdowns Thursday night to lead the No. 15 Itawamba Community College football team to a 40-6 victory against Southwest Mississippi C.C. in the NJCAA Game of the Week.
“I thought we did a good job controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball,” ICC coach Jon Williams said. “The offensive line did a great job opening holes for all of our running backs all night”
Griff Loftis was 22 of 30 for 223 yards and two interceptions, while Andrew Goodman added 102 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-9 passing as the Indians had 558 yards of total offense.
Former Noxubee County High School standout LaDarrell Hunt scored on an 8-yard run in the first quarter to get the Indians rolling.
ICC (2-0) will open MACJC North Division play at 7 p.m. Thursday when it plays host to Mississippi Delta C.C. at Eaton Field.
n Copiah-Lincoln 48, Northwest Mississippi 24: At Senatobia, the No. 6 Wolfpack scored the game’s first 48 points Thursday en route to their victory against the Rangers at Bobby Franklin Field.
Daniel Fitzwater was 13-for-22 for 194 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He connected with Koy McFarland three times for 75 yards and a score.
Kelton Smith rushed for two touchdowns as the Wolfpack capitalized on turnovers on their first two scoring drives. Co-Lin (2-0) also scored on a recovered fumble in the end zone off a bad punt snap.
Former Columbus High standout Damian Baker (13 carries 37 yards) had a 22-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter, which was part of the Rangers’ 24-point outburst.
Northwest (0-2) will play at 7 p.m. Thursday at Coahoma C.C. (0-2).
