With school around the corner, Junior Auxiliary of Starkville is collecting donated school supplies through Saturday for children in Oktibbeha County. The Stuff the Bus campaign is accepting supplies today at locations on Main Street including Book Mart, Doodlebugs, George-Mary’s, IDEA Shop, JCG Apparel, L.A. Green, Modern Woodmen of America, Occasions and The Partnership. Supplies may also be delivered today to Hot Worx or Orange Theory Fitness on University Drive, or, on Highway 12, to Ford Vision Clinic or Mitchell Eye Care.
On Saturday, school supplies will be collected from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chick-fil-A located on Highway 12 at Spring Street. JA volunteers will accept donated items at a tailgate tent set up in the parking lot. Each person bringing supplies will receive a digital coupon card for free Chick-fil-A food items.
“Junior Auxiliary is partnering with our community to provide needed school supplies for our area children and schools,” said project coordinator Lauren Colby Nickels. “Please join us by shopping together to purchase new supplies for a bright, new school year.”
Needed supplies include paper towels, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, Kleenex facial tissue, construction paper, Zip-Loc bags (quart and gallon), Febreze air freshener spray, baby wipes and safety scissors, among other items. JA volunteers have also created an Amazon wish list for the drive at amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3AGOLG6UBOYTZ?ref_=wl_share.
