ABERDEEN — Senior quarterback Fred Fields accounted for 433 yards and six touchdowns Friday night to lead the Aberdeen High School football team to a 46-45 victory against Hatley in a Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 3A, Region 4 game.
Fields ran 21 times for 228 yards with five touchdowns. He was 15-for-19 for 205 yards and another score.
Aberdeen finished with 273 rushing yards.
Jaquan Jones led all receivers with eight catches for 96 yards. He had a 17-yard touchdown reception.
Fields scored on runs of 11 and 3 yards in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs trailed 20-14 at halftime.
The deficit reached 26-14 before Field engineered the comeback.
A 2-yard run by Fields and subsequent two-point conversion run gave the Bulldogs the win with 26 seconds left in regulation.
For Hatley (5-4, 1-2), Nick Washington ran 43 times for 390 yards with four touchdowns.
n West Memphis 30, Oak Hill Academy 28: At West Memphis, Arkansas, the Raiders fell in the closing seconds of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) game.
For Oak Hill Academy (4-5), Ethan Bryan scored on touchdown runs of 40 and 28 yards, while Collin Coggins scored on touchdown runs of 25 and 18 yards. Grayson Easterling converted all four extra-point attempts.
n DeSoto School 48, Hebron Christian 6: At Pheba, the Eagles were overwhelmed in MAIS Eight-Man District 1 action at home.
For Hebron Christian (1-8), Elijah Parrish scored on an 8-yard run.
Doug Loden led the Eagles with 57 rushing yards. On defense, Jon McGrew had eight tackles, while Loden had seven and Braiden Triplett had five.
n In other action Friday night, Columbus Christian Academy (1-7) dropped a 53-28 decision to Lee (Arkansas) in an MAIS Class A game in Marianna, Arkansas. In MHSAA Class 1A, Region 3 play, Hamilton (1-7, 0-5) fell 28-9 at Sebastopol.
West Alabama
n Marengo Academy 14, Pickens Academy 12: At Carrollton, Alabama, Jon Wesley Rye had 15 carries for 86 yards rushing, but the Pirates (2-6, 2-2 region) lost their Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Class A, Region 2 game.
William Parker connected with Austin Goodman on a 44-yard touchdown pass. Braden Davidson caught a 5-yard touchdown from Parker.
