Celebrates sanctity of human life day
Happy Sanctity of Human Life week to everybody. I can say that because on January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan, a conservative pro-life Republican, issued a proclamation designating January 22, 1984 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. And because a decade earlier, the first March for Life in D.C. was founded by a great conservative lady, Nellie Gray. She wanted to start it on the first anniversary of legal abortions brought about by the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision on January 22, 1973, while Democrats were in control of our U.S. Congress. Also, let us give a big shout out to the brave pro-life Republican women who started the first Walk for Life in San Francisco on January 22, 2005. All these have been annual events since their beginning. These marches are done each year to protest the practice of abortion and its legality. Sad to say but very few Democrats ever support and attend these marches. I know that Sunday’s Dispatch contained a misleading letter which led it’s readers to believe the hands of Democrat leaders in our government were blood-free and that it is the Republicans who are to blame for the killing of innocent baby humans. Not so. Although it was written by someone who is in no doubt a liberal Democrat, he agrees inadvertently in the letter that life begins at conception. How about that. The letter mentioned a decision made in 1992 related to Planned Parenthood but it failed to say that Planned Parenthood was founded in 1916 by Margaret Sanger who was trying to save our society from the unfit. No matter how hard the letter writer tried to spin it, the Democrats were still in the majority in Congress in ’92, however in the final decision of the ’92 case the Court ruled that every state — where the responsibility should lie — may put limits on abortion and ever since then millions of lives have been saved in the many states who have actually made laws to limit abortions. I say proudly that Mississippi is one of those states. Thanks to Governor Bryant and a Republican-led legislature. Yes, I say a big thank you to Governor Bryant who, after signing the abortion ban bill, said, “I want to tell the Lord I fought for innocent babies.” It’s a scary thought to think that all those who stand for abortion and support and vote for pro abortion candidates will be held accountable on that day.
