In response to Dillon letter
First let me make a disclaimer. My letters are written because I have a real concern for our city. I have brought up things that I thought needed addressing. But, they are my opinions only based on what I have observed. If you think the city is running like a fine oiled machine, well I will beg to differ. The facts are, I have a lot of support for my letters from other citizens of Columbus.
I checked the Amphitheater on Oct. 16 and if the mud, silt and debris has been removed it was removed after 12 p.m. I will say, the grass had been cut and new graffiti has been installed. Spending $123,000 and change for electrical repairs on a site that is subject to flooding is not a good stewardship of our tax dollars. Several months ago a check was cut for an estimate on the site. Error in accounts payable was the explanation. Will the electrical work be bid out? I hope the city has good flood insurance on the Amphitheater. Now the new fire dept: Mr. Dillon, the city is saving $1,000,000 on a projected $600,000 project as J5 project manager was quoted in 2015. The new station was free with money left over?
The $100,000 street light survey was to be paid if we, the city didn’t use The Path Company. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure who will get the job. I don’t know what Mr. Dillon was referring to about the millage increase. All I said was, it is to pay the debt down. Did I misunderstand? Hey, Joe I went to Lee High years ago. Now doing my part as a citizen, many times when there is flooding in my neighborhood I have been out in wader boots clearing my ditches out because the Public Works Department has not done their job. I, along with my neighbors keep our neighborhood picked up. We’re doing our part, I just want the city to do theirs. I guess my letter about drainage will have to wait again.
God Bless Columbus and America.
