My two cents’ worth on schools
I read the comments on CSMD suggestions to improve its standing. I’m not an educator and I don’t have a child there, but I’d like to throw my two cents’ worth in. The suggestion of smaller class sizes is excellent. It gives teachers the opportunity to spend more time with each student.
The boys and girls should be separated so they’ll concentrate more on studies than each other. Those who are slower learners should be in different classes from those who need to be challenged in order to not get bored.
Make the school year 12 months instead of nine. Have a week-long break between each term. This helps keep students’ lessons from fading over the summer. There are more ways to keep students interested in school, if educators will only think about it. Maybe make the school day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
I doubt this will get published because I’ve offered these suggestions before, but I still think they are worthy of discussion by those who run the school system. As the liberals always say, “It’s for the children!”
