I am writing to voice my concern about the law in Mississippi. I can not understand the mindset of some of the law and order advocates in Columbus. They want the law enforced on their terms, and when it’s convenient to them. I have seen in the past few days a complete disregard for the law. I am speaking about the ridiculous expressions concerning the law and the owner of United Deli. The man was in violation of the law, plain and simple, but some of the law and order advocates have made him the second coming of Christ. This is a man who, if he would pull the gun on certain people, people would have a problem. When I attended the Police Training Academy in Pearl my instructor advised if the time comes to pull your firearm, deadly force was imminent. I stand by the actions of the police. When and if the owner goes to court, he is guilty. There was no justification for his holding the person at gunpoint. His action will probably be sugar-coated, matter of fact it already has. The individuals who are making this man a savior are thumbing their noses at the law, and for the Law Enforcement Officers who agreed with his action, they should relinquish that badge they are wearing. Shame, shame, shame.
