Inflation has hit everyone! There’s no doubt about that.
I was appalled to learn how little our police and fire department are being paid. And yet, we expect them to be at our beck and call any and every hour of the day. And, of course, our regular city and county employees need to be paid decent wages also. Their jobs are not always pleasant, but necessary!
To think that our city elected officials are even thinking of the large raises for themselves is just heartbreaking to me! Surely, some raise might be justified but not these percentages we are seeing. I don’t know how you could even sleep at night knowing that the people who endeavor to keep us all safe are making so little!
Please, please re-think this raise situation. I believe most of us tax-paying citizens are willing to pay a little more to ensure the safety of everyone in our community. But, I surely don’t want all my tax money going to the powers at be.
I wonder if others feel as I do?
