In the ancient times, there were wars too, but it used to happen between soldiers against opposing soldiers, king or emperor against opposing king or emperor. The ordinary people were out of life and death situations during wars.
How come are we better off or civilized compared to our past? Nowadays there are more civilians killed in war than soldiers.
In fact, our animal instincts are still predominating in our decision making. We see every day there are gun shootings all over the USA where innocent lives are gone forever for nothing. We still do the things irrationally.
Is it anger, greed, animosity or fun in killing another human? We all are made up of similar red blood.
This world is a crazy place. There is the United Nations, an organization representing almost all the countries of the world, but it has no value or power to mitigate any problem. For example, the UN can do nothing if the superpowers such as US, Russia or China are involved in any conflict.
Currently there are unhumanitarian activities going on by one of the superpowers, Russia, on the people of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people’s tragedy has been continuing for almost two months but there is no sign of relief from this humanitarian crisis.
The Soviet Union was dismantled during Gorbachev era because of instincts inherent to humans: the freedom of mind, freedom of talk and freedom of choice. Since then the breakaway countries have been doing better.
How cruel is it to think about? You declared we are coming to shorten your longevity and within weeks’ time, thousands of innocent Ukrainians have been perished. Now Russia is threatening to kill millions using atom bombs. How can you believe a communist leader? You set the rules and you break the rules. No chemical weapons or nuclear arsenals can be used, and now Russia says whatever necessary, they will use them.
Regarding nuclear weapons, the superpowers have plenty in their storage but do not like to see other countries have one. What is wrong if a new aspiring country likes to have a nuclear arsenal for their own security?
Russia is talking about using nuclear weapons. If Ukraine has one, Russia can’t threaten to use an atom bomb. If Iran likes to develop nuclear weapons for their security, why are the other powers threatening Iran not to go for it?
The two archrival countries of the world, India and Pakistan have atom bombs. Even the tiny, poverty-stricken country of North Korea has a number of nuclear weapons.
Recently Russia has tested an ICBM that can hit USA. I am sure the US also has something to protect her people and hit the enemy too.
But the question is where is our humanitarian philosophy? Do we believe in natural death? Do we believe in human lives that will continue to live on even when we are gone?
Another conflicting issue surfaced recently. We all know Taiwan is a country – a breakaway from mainland China led by Chiang Kai-Shek in 1949. Currently everything is peaceful both in China and Taiwan, however Communist China wants to invade democratic Taiwan and is already threatening USA not to support Taiwan.
Is Russia showing the pathway?
In this 21st century can you believe a superpower can conduct this human tragedy by literally destroying the sovereign country of Ukraine? Every country should think of how to cast Russia out for a long time. This is the only way to go forward.
