Columbus, stop overlooking the jewels then writing about them when they’re gone.
February is Black History Month, and I ask you to honor Mr. Billy Wayne White as the most community-minded volunteer. He has dignity and honor, integrity and transparency, heartfelt and non-hippocratic schemes; he mentors troubled youth and calls family members to pray by leading the ones who want change in their lives. My cousin’s name should be Billy Wayne “Columbus” White.
He has loved and has done more than any person in Columbus by volunteering and mentoring the broken, wounded, single-parent home, father-incarcerated youth. He’s bought uniforms, bought food, cooked and welcomed them with the help of Family Men.
They have shown love before, since and during the pandemic.
He is a man of valour to his family, community and Columbus. Our family extends across the earth: U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, just to name a few. Our family members are protecting and serving in various branches of the military.
Wayne’s daughter served two deployments to Afghanistan. Thank God she’s still with us. She left her blessed husband and five children to serve. Wayne made sure his son-in-law and grands had his support physically and prayerfully.
Thank God for teamwork. Wayne taught us by example and continues to do so presently.
