We are at a tender junction right now with our city council and mayor.
First of all, as a white person, I understand why some Blacks are leery of anything that they think is an attempt to “turn back the clock”. They must however realize that most whites are of a new generation and understand the horrible things that happened in the past and regret that.
As our city’s resources diminish with each store or factory that leaves Columbus, we must do that much more to ensure that our financial situation is secure.
All this fuss about the mayor not communicating with the council members makes it obvious that they have been used to hearing from the previous mayor in a way that was not correct. Whether it was intentional or not, we won’t know.
For the few of you who even attend (or now watch) our city meetings, it was obvious in the past from the lack of any discussion on motions that they had already been discussed and decided before the meetings.
Let’s all get on the same page and move forward, for our city’s sake.
