Earlier this week I scheduled a pickup from a Columbus grocery store. The store has designated several parking spots for customers using this service. The last two times I had a pickup from this store there were no available designated spots to park. All of the spots were full, but there was no one in the cars! Apparently, the drivers of those cars didn’t care where they parked and how it impacted other people.
So often I’ve seen people park in handicap designated parking spots and the vehicle’s do not have handicap license plates or placards.
I’ve also seen people parking in those spots in a manner that their vehicle takes up two spaces.
At one time Columbus was known as “The Friendly City” but it isn’t anymore. I’ve noticed that kindness and courtesy are in short supply these days. Those qualities have given way to selfishness and entitlement. The idea has become “I will take what I want when I want it.” I don’t know if today’s mentality will ever change.
It saddens me that people only think about themselves.
