Ms. Arnold’s letter in the July 30 Dispatch was refreshing to read. I know there is a silent majority out there that agrees with her, as I do. We have inflation, high fuel prices, lawlessness, corruption at the highest levels in the Justice Dept., Congress (both parties) and CDC, just to name a few problems. Critical Race Theory is being pushed in our military. Racial strife is driven from the highest government level. Murder in the country is high. Cries for more gun control or blame the police, but not much is said about personal responsibility. Pass the buck and throw money at the problem. We’re told being wealthy is the problem, Christians are the problem, Israel is the problem and law abiding citizens are the problem.
I have several questions about the COVID issues being touted today. The government is being disingenuous in the information released, allowing millions to come into the country without testing and blaming citizens for the spread of the “delta” variance.
I’ll close with local concerns. Mayor Gaskin is off to a great start. Hats off to him! A few things I would like to see: One is an audit to see where all the money has gone. I don’t mean a local accounting firm but an outside firm with no ties to the city. The Public Works Department needs to be looked at. Each ward has its needs and each council person should light a fire under public works, and let’s address drainage and ditches in their respective wards. Trash and litter need to be addressed with the public showing some responsibility in cleaning up their neighborhood. Can inmates or some folks’ punishment be community service? Just my thoughts, but a little personal pride will go a long way.
God Bless Columbus and America.
