CALEDONIA — Y.Z. “Zeke” Cantrell, 75, died March 15, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Otts Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent, Ala., with Bro. Harlan Smith and Bro. Steve Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Crews Cemetery. Mr. Cantrell was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Lamar County, Ala., to the late Morris and Martha Elizabeth McClain Cantrell. He was a Baptist. He previously farmed and also worked for years as a small engine repairman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Cantrell; daughters, Shelia and Carlene Cantrell; brothers, Lonnie and Johnny Cantrell; and sister, Martha Carolyn Cantrell. He is survived by his wife, Helen Merchant Cantrell of Caledonia; sons, James Cantrell of Columbus and John Cantrell of Caledonia; daughters, Brenda Trimm of Columbus and Barbara Trimm of Caledonia; brothers, J.B., Pete, Homer and Lewis Cantrell, all of Caledonia; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ned, Charlie, Jamie and Woodie Cantrell, George Nichols, Charles Simmons and Douglas Agnew.
