SULLIGENT, Ala. — Willie “June” Thompson Jr., 72, died May 11, 2019, at his residence. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Otts Funeral Home Chapel with Andre Evans officiating. Burial followed at the Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thompson was born June 27, 1946, in Lamar County, Alabama, to Millie Mae Bankhead and the late Willie Thompson Sr. He was self-employed as a yard worker and a lawn mower mechanic. He was a member of Powell Chapel C.M.E. Church. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Wayne and James Carl “Pony” Thompson. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Richard Lee Thompson of Sulligent and Jonas Thompson of Douglasville, Georgia; and sisters, Lillie Mae Smith and Betty L. Thompson, both of Sulligent. Pallbearers were Freddie K. McKinney, William Johnson, James A. Cribbs, O’Neal Hollis, Fred Broyles, Robert Earl Johnson and Lenard Davis.
